Twelve Step groups, for example, provide a unique environment where honesty, empathy, compassion, and mutual encouragement create fertile ground for spiritual growth. Within these communities, addicts learn to live authentically, breaking free from shame and deception, and embracing congruence between their inner values and outward actions.
