Faithfulness Series -#3 Emotional Faithfulness

Emotional faithfulness is also an important part of marital faithfulness. Emotional faithfulness means that your spouse is the person with whom you really share your heart or emotional self. Your spouse should not be second to your parents, friends, co-workers, or even to your children.

Emotional faithfulness means putting your spouse first in your relationships with absolute loyalty. Your spouse is the person you allow to see you at the core of your being.

As a Christian counselor, I realize that you may have little to no training in understanding emotions. If so, I strongly recommend my book Intimacy: A 100-Day Guide to Lasting Relationships. In this book, I outline in detail a feeling exercise you can do to identify and communicate your feelings with each other. It takes about ninety days to achieve a good skill level in emotions. This feelings list is also available in the other section of this app.

Once you have this skill, it will be much easier to maintain and grow in emotional faithfulness with your spouse. I am so glad that I can share my heart and feelings with Lisa on a daily basis. Because of this consistent behavior, she is the safest person on earth to me.
