10 Minute Exercise Marriage Series #7-My Love Letter

This is an enjoyable exercise that you can do in your marriage. If you are spontaneous and creative, you could do this very regularly. If you find it challenging to put your love and appreciation in words, this might offer you an excellent opportunity to work out those creative muscles.

If you are married, you probably have a lot of love for your spouse. I know a time without positive reinforcement can wear on your passion, but you still love your spouse the best you can for the circumstances you find yourself in.

Now I know you are probably thinking about writing a love letter every day could take some time. That’s true, but the love letter exercise is spoken just like many of the other exercises and not written. In this love letter exercise, you face each other and maintain eye contact.

One spouse goes first and completes this sentence, “If I were writing a love letter today to you, it would say …” Then, after one person has completed their love letter, the other spouse also does their love letter statement, “If I were writing a love letter today to you, it would say…”

I don’t know about you, but I feel more in love just hearing this. This love letter exercise can blow you away. No matter what happened that day, you could be fortified by having your spouse speak their love letter to you. Now I have to warn you that the warmth and “wow” feelings you can have can lead to hugs, kisses, and other reactions. This exercise is “wowing,” to say the least.

The rationale here is we all are so in love but don’t regularly prime the pump. This exercise gets to the depth of who we are to the other person. When you do this regularly, all of life seems just a little easier, burdens lighter, and life just so much sweeter.
