10 Minute Exercise Marriage Series #5-Memory Lane


All of us like to stroll down memory lane. Whether it is months, years, or decades, you have incredible memories that only you and your spouse have shared during your marriage. Every couple experiences the adventure of a life together. Each of us has our Rolodex of memories like snapshots of these events. In this exercise, I want you to focus on the positive memories that you have shared.

I know you have had your fair share of less than wonderful encounters and memories. This exercise intentionally forces you both to focus on the positive moments. The purpose of this exercise is twofold. Firstly focus and reinforce that you do have positive moments and that these moments when reinforced, can give you both a more positive feeling in your marriage. Secondly, you are much more apt to create more positive memories by strengthening positive memories.

So as part of your marriage, if you incorporate this memory lane exercise, you would both recall one positive memory a day. You would then face each other, look into each other’s eyes and share your positive memory about the other person or the marriage.

This actually is a very fun exercise. Life is busy and sometimes chaotic. These exercises can help be the calm and warm in a day of your life. This exercise takes very little time so it easily will fit into your 10-Minute Marriage.
