Today, I want to share two of the six roots of fairness.
Root #1 - Fairness Does not Exist
As an idea, fair cannot and will not ever exist in the world. Fair cannot be achieved—ever. Fairness is a total illusion of the soul. Fairness does not exist in God’s heart, like mercy and grace through Christ Jesus. He is a just God, but fair is a human contract we are in no way capable of measuring in relationship to each other.
#2 - I cannot measure fairness.
We are deceived at our core if we think we can ever create a measure of fairness in a marriage. There is no way to measure something that does not and will never exist. When we believe in fairness we want to measure fairness. When we do not believe in fairness, we are not even tempted to measure it or get trapped into a conversation about fairness (or the Easter Bunny).
However, trying to measure fairness is an indication you might well believe in the non-existent idea of fairness. You know yourself that just being honest with your struggle can help you walk free in your servant marriage.
