Intimacy anorexia is often called the silent killer of marriages because the pain is invisible to others, yet devastating to the partner. It drains the relationship and, over time, leaves the neglected spouse feeling alone, unwanted, and empty. They're forced to survive the relationship by pouring themselves into work, kids, or other activities to cope with the emotional distance and constant rejection. The trauma of being married to an intimacy anorexic can be just as painful as experiencing infidelity or sex addiction.
